Auditore stands on a rocky spur overlooking the Foglia Valley. It was ruled by the Malatesta until 1463, then the Montefeltro succeeded and they joined the Ducky of Urbino until 1631, when the ducky became part of the Papal State.
Its name comes from the word “auditorium”, because in this town in the past discussions and controversies took place. Besides, it was famous because of manufacturing of bronze and production of bells and cannons.
Downstream there is the small town of Casinina, which was built during the retreat of German troops in 1944. There were many civil victims there, because of violence, oppression and bloody fights. Documents concerning that period are exhibited in the small museum.
It is interesting to visit the small villages of San Giovanni and Castelnuovo, which are characterized by defensive walls, castles ruins, towers and ramparts.
In San Leo Nuovo (industrial area of Casinina) there is the Sanctuary of “Oasi della Pace di Santa Rita”, place of faith and prayer.
This Medieval village mainly is characterized by walls with two towers built in 15th century and by the main Church with a paint (La Pentecoste) made by Marino Medici.
The hilly area is typical of the hinterland of the Marche and Romagna. In about 30 minutes it is possible to reach the beach of Pesaro and most famous towns of Romagna.
The road leading to the village of Castel Nuovo is closed to traffic, for this reason it is the ideal place for trekking lovers.
